 Hiring an executive or career coach or any other coach for that matter is an important decision and not one that can be taken lightly. You need to spend time making the right choice and ensure that you pick the right person to work with. Here are some red flags that you need to keep your eyes open for, while making your selection. 

Does the coach you are considering have all the proper credentials and certifications? A reputed leadership coach will most certainly have proper certifications, will have undergone proper training and will also have memberships in professional organisations. 

Does the coach you are thinking of working with have a coaching process that seems muddled? One of the primary red flags of a coach is not having a clear coaching process. Someone with experience and expertise will have a defined method, will include techniques that are respected and have shown effectiveness. 

Is the executive business coach promising you quick fixes and results in minimal time? This is not an instant food cart, where you can order something and get it in your hands in a matter of minutes. You need to understand that coaching is an investment and it will take time as well as effort to bring results about. 

Does the coach offer you a one stop solution? Because the problems and challenges of each person are different, the coaching program also needs to be different. There cannot be a one size fits all system, and in case the coach you are considering is pushing that on you, it might be time to hit the about turn!
